Purpose

Sphere marking is used for golf balls, metal balls, ornaments, bearings, decorative spheres and other round objects without rotary.

Recommended Workflow

  1. Create a sphere model or import an STL.
  2. Match the sphere diameter to the real object.
  3. Import logo, text or vector artwork.
  4. Ungroup and combine the design if needed.
  5. Set hatch, power, speed, frequency and pulse settings.
  6. Use 2D Graphical Mapping to 3D Model.
  7. Preview carefully with red light.
  8. Mark in 3D mode.
Tip: Mapping is usually better than simple projection on spheres because the design must follow curvature in multiple directions.
Common problems:
  • Design stretches near the sides
  • Text becomes distorted
  • Focus becomes weak near the edge
  • Marking area is too large for the sphere curvature
