Average power vs. frequency

Select a row to use that pulse width. Frequencies are in kHz. Power estimates use your current frequency and power setting.

What does cut-off mean?
Below cut-off, the source reduces average output as frequency falls. Above cut-off, average power approximately plateaus, while energy per pulse decreases as frequency increases. Cut-off is a reference point, not a universal best setting for every material.
The maximum allowed frequency is a separate limit, determined by pulse width and source revision.
How the estimates work
For ordinary profiles, estimated average power = rated watts × power setting / 100 × min(frequency / manual cut-off, 1). Pulse energy in mJ = average watts / frequency in kHz.
This is an illustrative linear approximation, not a measurement or a calibrated source model. Actual low-power control, simmer, mode and firmware can change the result. The manual cut-off remains the full-power reference when the power slider changes. Performance mode shows table values only; output estimates are withheld.
Model revisions, source notes and supported profiles
Match the complete model code and manual revision to your laser label. M7, E-M7, E2-M7, L1 and M8 versions are separate profiles. Unlisted versions are not inferred from wattage.
20/30 W E profiles use J-SI-0036 v1.4. Its note limits frequency to 400 kHz at pulse widths ≥80 ns, overriding the general table maximum. Standard 60/80/100/120 W uses S-PI-0035 v1.0, Table 5. E 60 W uses its dedicated manual; E 80/100/200 W uses JG-MCYF-SM-0039 v1.0, Table 5. E2 profiles use their individual manuals. The 200 W L1-X profile uses Version B, September 2018, Table 5 (whose heading contains an apparent 80 W typo; the table column identifies 200-M7-L1-X).
For E and E2 200 W at 2/4/6 ns, the manuals list only a lower-bound output at 4000 kHz. Rated 200 W cannot be assumed. Calculated watts, pulse energy and power curves are intentionally withheld for these entries. CW is excluded because pulse-energy calculations do not apply. The uploaded M8 20 W v1.1 manual marks setting 1 as CW. The uploaded M8 50 W V01 manual instead lists a 1 ns pulse and setting 500 as CW. Those model-specific assignments are preserved; 500 is not offered as a pulse width on this 50 W profile.
M8 20 W uses the uploaded J-SI-0036 v1.1, Table 4, printed page 8. M8 50 W uses the uploaded machine-translated V01 manual, Table 5, printed pages 4–5; its 250/350 ns entries require 10–35 °C ambient temperature. M8 100 W uses V01 dated 2021-06-23, Table 4, printed page 7. M8 120/200/300 W S-W-V2 uses Version 01, Table 5 (PDF page 12). These V2 profiles have different supported pulse widths from the older M8 models. The 60–200 ns V2 cut-off values are copied as printed, including their increase relative to 45 ns.
